PS: Oh, and by the way 😅 - the way they describe this genre from the Burmese is considered COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than Shan ☝️ In YouTube comments 👩💻👨💻, they just call it 🤷♂️ "Old Guitar" (and especially the '60s "Underground Radio Recordings" 🤫 - they call THAT genre "Revolutionary Songs" 😎)
So, people get that mixed up around here 😅😅😅 I have not seen a SINGLE COMMENT 👇 calling Shan rock-like music 🎸 "Stereo" 🙄

Hello, I have an answer on why they call it stereo for the Burmese. Mono records were controlled by the government censorship board. The arrival of stereo technology coupled with the rise of rebellious rock and roll throughout Myanmar led to Burmese artists distributing underground with stereo records. So, "stereo" would refer to typically western-influenced songs (Vast majority of the time they were covers) and "mono" would refer to more traditional, government-approved songs.
