New Shan State Music Info (and an error I fixed)

As of now: I'm in intense recovery mode  regarding my TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) circumstance (which happened 3 ½ years ago, due to a car crash incident), so here is me stumbling  my way again to show what I have: So I had (recently) decided to browse through some of the saved PDF books from a website (what appears to be intentionally redirected by the Burmese govt, so I had intuitively decided to save the PDS of the books that were crucial for me, just in case… and it turned out to be the case, of it the website apparently essentially removed ) called khamkhoo.com  (apparently incorrect pages), created by, who appears to be by Nang Kham Khoo, who also created this fantastic YouTube channel , which was one of the inspirations for me finding a lot of legendary rock/pop Shan songs (that stem from, what the locals call "Underground Radio", during the 1960's - as far as I know). And, here's a PDF  (by Amporn Jarattikorn) of a book that helped me find some of ...

ၼၢင်းၼၢင်း | Nang Nang - Compilation (1970s-1980s)

Download:  ၼၢင်းၼၢင်း | Nang Nang - Compilation (1970s-1980s) YouTube The bands she's a member of: Tai Noom (tr. Young Shan), Invisible , High Hopes , and Tunggaburi Band . She started it with Tai Noom.  The first track on this compilation is the first track ever recorded on this band!!  They did it in a basement - they did it themselves.  No label or anything. They had trouble getting a hold of the instruments that they wanted (before making the first tape, of course).  The band members went from village to village, singing and asking for gifts (in a humble way, like homeless people cardboard signs).  They got the spare change that they could get and got the instruments for the band. They made double-entendre lyrics (what the locals would understand - not the Burmese officially led government, of course - they probably don't understand the hidden meanings of Shan language lyrics).  To protect themselves from the government - not anything like Sai Hs...

ၸဝ်ႈၼၢင်းမျႃႉတူၺ်း | Sao Nang Mya Htwe - Compilation (1960s Underground Radio Recordings)

Download:  ၸဝ်ႈၼၢင်းမျႃႉတူၺ်း | Sao Nang Mya Htwe - Compilation (1960s Underground Radio Recordings) YouTube I compiled all of her tracks from mixtapes from the "underground" 1960s radio tracks within Shan State. The mixtapes included musicians like Sai Htee Hseng, Sai Naw Ha, Nang Hnum Mao, Sai Naw Ha.. The cover I put is from a book pdf that I downloaded from a now deleted website:  https://khamkoo.com/

Sai Hsai Mao with The Aces

Image
Sai Hsai Mao with The Aces Sai Hsai Mao... he made more tame music at this point.  At the end of his "rebel" music, he grabbed a team of lawyers to get the government to stop harassing him.  He made both Burmese and Shan music (this one is Shan).

Tai Noom - Mixtape

Image
Tai Noom - Mixtape A mixtape of 3 original tapes they made, 1 or 2 that are basement recordings... A different sound quality than the others.  Only female singers on this one 🤷‍♂️

High Hopes

Image
High Hope High Hopes "High Hopes" is probably the original band name.  "High Hope" sounds like a misspelling.  Like "My Favourat Sound", Sai Hsai Mao remakes of his "New Brother" tapes by another Shan company.  Not too shabby with English, if I may dare say 😉 These are both the same album, btw.  Different sound qualities, of course.  Tell me which one you prefer?  Different sound qualities give a unique refreshment, especially if you play them quite often 👍 👋

The Clover

Image
The Clover Umm... where does it say "The Clover" on the cover?  I don't see it on there...  I wonder why I put that band name in my iTunes... Maybe I knew it from somewhere? "The Clover" is a Pa-oh band, right?  But Shan singers?  I'm confused... Then again, there are some Lahu members (another tribe) in Shan bands, so 🤷‍♂️
