SUPER rebellious cuz artists, who were TORTURED and imprisoned!! (and even killed...)  Sai Hsai Mao was a leader.  Check out his lyrics (the opening track in my compilation), called: 


"The Promises of Panglong" 

A free homeland for the Shan 
This, we agreed on at Panglong 
The vows and promises so solemnly made 
And now, though it has never been told 
By whom the promises were broken 
We know who betrayed whom 
But the Shan have always been true

Sai Hsai Mao was sent underground for singing this song (the totalitarian government did this to him...).  He was isolated, in complete darkness... then they took him back up, and they asked him "who wrote the song?" (twas Sai Kham Leik, but he didn't tell them...), and he yelled out "ALL THE SHAN WROTE THE SONG", then they buried him underground, once again. 

Then, some time later, he promised to NOT play the song any more (over the underground radio, where the genre started...), but then... he travelled to Thailand and recorded tapes with the label "New Brother", and they smuggled them back to Shan State.  They had to sneak them in and hide them in their homes... to keep them away from the government.  Not sure how they still have them today, the government destroyed the lot of them... I guess some of them are still here!!  What a ride...

    hi, do you have a track list for this? it just shows up as all "various artists" for me, would love to be able to know more about these musicians. the mix is great, thank you.

      Right now, I do not. I'll try it later when I get a chance. Been holding out on it due to arm injury and brain... because of a car crash... yea...

      Okay, done-zo!! Just put in my BEST effort to help you guys out!! I put in the artists but it's hard to find a few of their names (the instrumentals) and the titles are a CHORE to transcribe... I don't transcribe the titles much cuz they're a bit hard to transcribe... Plus, the titles aren't always written on the covers... Okay, done-zo amigo!! Did what I could and did my best!! ENJOY!!! Bye-bye-yeee!!!

    I uhh... had to edit some things... 🤷‍♂️

    My brain injury 🧠🤕, I made some booboos 🤦‍♂️

    I put the wrong names on some songs 😂

    I edited the "CD" lengths to be more accurate 😉

    And I uhh... made the end of some the tracks "Fade Out" 🤔

    To be more "professional" 😉

Download:  ၼၢင်းၼၢင်း | Nang Nang - Compilation (1970s-1980s) YouTube The bands she's a member of: Tai Noom (tr. Young Shan), Invisible , High Hopes , and Tunggaburi Band . She started it with Tai Noom.  The first track on this compilation is the first track ever recorded on this band!!  They did it in a basement - they did it themselves.  No label or anything. They had trouble getting a hold of the instruments that they wanted (before making the first tape, of course).  The band members went from village to village, singing and asking for gifts (in a humble way, like homeless people cardboard signs).  They got the spare change that they could get and got the instruments for the band. They made double-entendre lyrics (what the locals would understand - not the Burmese officially led government, of course - they probably don't understand the hidden meanings of Shan language lyrics).  To protect themselves from the government - not anything like Sai Hs...
